Heart Sensing Sound Fountain at FACT, Liverpool, UK

Locke created the Heart Sensing Sound Fountain in response to a creative brief developed in discussion with the Performing Data Research group and Noel Murphy. See Link

The aim was to further explore ways in which the artist could work with the performing data tool kit to create situations where an audience could engage in their own unique and sometimes very personal experience with the Sound Fountain, for example, using their body data to make changes within an installation environment.

The simplicity and directness of this work is key to its success in securing total engagement from participants who are able to identify their pulse and consider their physiology – “that’s my heart rate – what does that mean about me – me in this present moment?”
